Larry R. Frank Sr., MBA, CFP® |
Larry's book, "Wealth Odyssey,"
published in 2005, shows people what financial planning really
is - it's not investing (that's implementing the plan - one
needs a plan first). The book also defines wealth - it's not
rich - and how to use wealth to sustain his or hers unique
Standard of Individual Living. "Wealth Odyssey" shifts the focus
from income-centric thinking to net worth, or wealth-centric
thinking (what others call wealth management). With this subtle change in perspective, "Wealth
Odyssey" shows how this helps one put all the financial planning
components into better perspective to make smart decisions.
Larry
has twenty-seven years of financial planning research and
real-life experiences teaching people personal finance focused
on how to make smart decisions to grow and protect their net
worth, not income. Rather than make
things complicated, his work has been focused around simplifying
the complexities of prioritizing simultaneous financial planning
issues and their related calculations so the person's living is
sustainable.
Larry was born in Duluth MN, and grew up in Cloquet MN. He has
a B.S. cum laude in Physics (how things work) from the University
of Minnesota (1977). He also holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration
(MBA) (how money works) from the University of South Dakota
(1983) with a concentration in corporate finance and investments. He
is a Certified Financial Planner practitioner (CFP®)
with practical experience working with adults to address multiple
financial topics simultaneously.
He
retired (1994) from the Air Force as a commissioned military officer
after a career as a helicopter and jet pilot, flying
internationally in multiengine aircraft to 47 countries on five continents.
He was also a contingency and war planner during the latter
half of his career. These flying and planning experiences showed
him how to think ahead and plan for alternative possibilities,
important characteristics in any planning, including financial
planning and wealth management.
In
1996, as a Wealth Mentor, Larry founded Better Financial Education
in Roseville CA to teach local adult education classes in personal finance.
He is a past director on the Board of Directors for the Financial
Planning Association of Northern California.
He has appeared in Nationally Syndicated Articles
and on Nationally Syndicated Radio.
His hobbies include reading and travel, especially to an
oceanfront home in El Salvador. He is married to Rosa Maria
Cáceres from San Salvador, El Salvador, and currently lives in
Rocklin CA. They have four children and four grandchildren.
